Senior columnist angry at 6 senators who filed a motion to stay with ICC

Manila Standard columnist, Rod Kapunan, is clearly angry at Senators Francis “Kiko” Pangilinan, Franklin Drilon, Benigno “Bam” Aquino, Antonio Trillanes IV, Leila de Lima and Risa Hontiveros for their want to uphold the deal the Philippines has with the International Criminal Court to be tried for crimes against humanity, among others.

Kapunan said these senators belonged to the “traitorous Liberal Party” and that all of them want to be governed by foreigners.

Kapunan believes that wanting the Philippines to stay within the jurisdiction of the International Criminal Court (ICC) and adhere to the agreements the states made within the group, is allowing our country to be dictated by foreign entities. He calls the ICC a “Kangaroo Court” and believes that “European imperialist powers” calls the shots within the group.

He adds that the right thing for the Philippines to do is to pursue upholding its sovereignty and determine its identity for itself without external entities dictating upon it.

He continues on to say that the only way for this to happen is if  the Philippines continues on its affairs within its territory and its established courts.

No other foreign power or organization should be allowed to interfere or violate that principle of international law,” Kapunan says.

Ending his post, he gets another shot at the six senators saying that their move to “surrender to the ICC” is “pathetic” and that it clearly should not be listened to or upheld.

"It is disheartening to that six of our senators, mostly belonging to the traitorous Liberal Party, sought for the resetting of the government's decision to withdraw from the International Criminal Court. Filipinos are appalled at the behavior of this political party that wants our own government and their elected public officials be placed under the criminal jurisdiction of the foreign powers that hold such abominable record of exploiting, oppression and enslaving people for centuries. These animals that distinguish themselves as our senators are Kiko Pangilinan, Franklin Drilon, Bam Aquino, Antonio Trillanes, Laila de Lima and Riza Hontiveros filed before the ICC a motion and manifestation for the deferment of our oral argument in the government's decision to withdrew that from Kangaroo Court instituted by the European imperialist powers.

The position of our government which is consistent to international law and has been adopted by most civilized governments center on the universally accepted principle that every state has the right to determine its sovereignty over its own territory and over its own nationals. This presupposes that all acts committed by its citizen in its own territory, including the exercise of government policies by its duly elected officials, can only be tried within our territory by our duly constituted court. In other words, jurisdiction over our citizens and of the policies we institute should prevail. No other foreign power or organization should be allowed to interfere or violate that principle of international law.

It is truly pathetic seeing our lawmakers acting like savage animals demanding from their own country and its people to surrender to the ICC to be tried and punished by it for alleged crimes they alone determined."
