Duterte claims Military officials actively conspiring with the ‘enemy’

While most soldiers swear allegiance to create an environment conducive for sustainable development and lasting peace, President Rodrigo Duterte on Monday claims that some of them may be collaborating with the opposition in an attempt to overthrow his administration.

During his visit at Camp Teodulfo Bautista Station Hospital in Jolo, Sulu, Duterte said in a statement, "Ang (ma)sakit ko dito, kayong mga Liberal at mga military, nakipag-ugnayan sila sa mga sundalo na rebelde (Magdalo Group). Tapos iyun na 'yung tatlo: Yellow, mga sundalo na hindi ko maintindihan ang utak kung saan ang loyalty nila, pati 'yung mga Liberal. Diyan ako naghinanakit sa sundalo. But to go into cahoots with the kalaban..."

"If you are true to your country, do not bed with the enemy, kung ayaw mo ako na presidente, 'Duterte kasi bugok walang alam.' Okay lang, fine. Hintay lang sila ng election. Few years away," the President added while doubting the loyalty of some military officials yet to be identified.

Duterte also insisted that the imminent ‘Red October’ ouster plot against his administration will succeed only if his own troops shall also actively take part in ousting him.

"Itong plot na ito, nothing will succeed without the help of the Armed Forces. If the military and the police think na hindi ako bagay maging presidente, sabihan nila ako. Walang away-away, he said.

He added that should both the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) and the Philippine National Police (PNP) no longer find him ‘fit’ to pursue his mandate of leading the country, they are mostly welcome to tell him, giving the Chief Executive enough probable cause to step down.

"Kung sabihin nila na dapat palitan ako, larga ako,” he said.qot ‘seriously’ as organized by none other than the Communist Party of the Philippines (CPP) in a grand scheme supposed to commence next month onwards.

Lorenzana said that the PUBLIC shall be informed first – hand, should the destabilization plot happen one way or another.

“Exposure is (the) first step,” Lorenzana said on Monday.

“Second is to monitor their activities and (those of) their affiliates,” he continued and explained that the third step is to “preempt if there are indications that (the CPP) will conduct destabilization or any violent mass movement.”

The DND Chief added that such plot was rooted out in an encounter by the government troops with the New People’s Army in Bukidnon way back February 2017.

“It was hatched by the CPP-NPA in October 2016 even before the President cancelled the peace talks. After (the cancellation), the implementation (of the ouster moves) became an urgent program by the CPP-NPA,” Lorenzana revealed.
