President Rodrigo Duterte remains to be the national official with the highest approval and trust ratings, in a recent Pulse Asia survey despite his rating drop, Malacañang said Tuesday.

Presidential Spokesman Harry Roque said in a Palace briefing that President Duterte still enjoys a “very good” public approval grade among other country’s top officials and their institutions

“I believe that’s still a very good approval rating. Certainly still the highest of all the officials surveyed by Pulse Asia,” Roque said

The results of the survey, was conducted from Sept. 1 to 7, showed that the Chief executive scored a 75 percent approval rating and a 72 percent trust rating.

Roque said Malacañang is “not affected” by lower survey ratings, noting that the President is more focused on doing his job.

“But anyway, and—certainly still the highest of all the officials surveyed by Pulse Asia. So pinakamataas pa rin ang approval rating ng Presidente,” he added.

Roque has also expressed dismay to former National Food Authority (NFA) administrator Jason Aquino who was blamed on the increase in rice prices.

Duterte, earlier said he was replacing Aquino because the former NFA chief was tired.

“Why do I say these things about Jason? Kasi parang iyong single issue ng bigas, nakalimutan na ng tao iyong mga iba pang achievements sa administrasyon dahil malapit nga ito sa sikmura."

Roque said the country could not avoid the rising prices of oil, but could have prevented the jacking up of rice prices. He said this is why he was "personally angry" about the issue.

“Kung sapat iyong ating stock at kung nabigyan natin ng—at least man lang iyong NFA rice ‘no na hindi natin nagawa."

“So isa po iyan sa malaking bagay, kaya ako personal galit kasi parang nabalewala lahat noong mga ginagawang mabuti ng Presidente pagdating dito sa usaping bigas."

The President however still had higher performance and trust ratings compared to Vice President Leni Robredo, Senate President Vicente Sotto III, and acting Chief Justice Antonio Carpio.
