Rico J. Puno’s Son Shared His Last Moments With His Dad

A person who shares a part of himself to the people whether through his actions or through his talent leaves a legacy that can’t be erased. Not even death can put an end to a legacy that a wonderful person brings.

OPM Legend 

This is a sad day indeed as most of the people woke up to the sad news of OPM Legend Rico J. Puno passing away at the age of 65 due to cardiac arrest earlier this morning.

The OPM Legend who is known for his hits such as “Kapalaran”, “May Bukas Pa”, “Macho Gwapito” was brought to the hospital last Sunday for his regular checkup, but was confined and was not allowed by the doctors to leave the facility.

This was confirmed by Norma Japitana, Puno’s 35-year manager in an interview on Dobol B.

"Actually, he was there at the hospital for a regular checkup and then hindi na siya pinaalis," she said.

She also confirmed that the death was “heart-related.” She also shared how Puno got a new pacemaker recently, after he had a bypass surgery in April 2017.

Netizens and other celebrities gave their condolences to the family.

The son talks

After his silence, Rico’s son Rox posted his tribute on his Facebook page. He said he was quiet and did not post right away because he still can’t believe what happened.

His dad died at 1:56am, he recalled he arrived at the hospital at 1:26am, he shared how his dad fought and waited for him.

He shared how he arrived and hugged his dad, and how he heard his dad’s last breath.

In the end, he shared his gratefulness that he was able to shared moments with his dad. How he visited his dad and always kisses him goodbye when he leaves. But this time, he is kissing his dad for a final goodbye.

It was 1:56am, i arrived 1:26am he fought , as he said a few months earlier “ lumalaban ako para sa mga mahal ko sa buhay “ ang hirap pala pag ikaw na yung nasa sitwasyon nato. Ang bigat pala i said to myself kaya ko to but wala tao lang ako umiiyak ka nalang. I did not post earlier kasi still cant believe kahit kaharap ko sha. He waited for me pag dating ko sa hospital niyakap ko sha and then i heard yung last breath nya, d ko alam na yun pala yung pagnagpapaalam, i just started crying..... 😢 i was lucky to have had precious time with him. Im happy to have had good talks with him at his house and not showing any sign na nahihirapan sha kahit napapansin ko naman. I always kiss him whenever i go home but this time i am kissing him goodbye kasi alam ko nakay Lord na sha. Salamat sa lahat ng sumoporta sa Tatay ko na kinikilala nyong si Rico J. Puno. Papa ksama mo na si lola at lolo at si tito Dolphy sila naman pasayahin mo dyan , happy kami dito kasi d ka na nahihirapan. 😢 iloveyou papa!
