Doctor to Satur Ocampo and France Castro: Ginagamit ninyo ang mga Lumad para sa inyong propaganda

Former Bayan Muna Representative Satur Ocampo, ACT Teachers Representative France Castro, along with others are currently charged with violating Republic Act (RA) 9208 or the Anti Trafficking in Persons Act, as well as kidnapping and failure to return a minor.

The group is currently detained in Talaingod town in Davao del Norte.

Out for a mission

The defense coming from Ocampo and Castro is that according to them, the minors they were with were students of the Salugpongan Ta’Tanu Igkanogon Community Learning Center Incorportated (STTICLC) and that they were being evacuated because of an alleged harassment by the military.

Their defense was supported by a statement also released by the school. Meggie Nolaso, the STTICLC executive director, said that troops of the government blocked food supplies that were entering the school, meaning to shut down their operations.

Ocampo and Castro’s group went to STTICLC for a mission to deliver the goods and supplies themselves.

However, they were stopped in a checkpoint in Barangay Sto Nino in Davao del Norte after the police were ticked off saying that a group of people were coming in from Talaingod which is a known area of communists.

Netizen in disbelief that progressive group were there for a mission

Doctor Rolaiza Mimi Singayao heard the news of the arrest of the progressive leaders and does not believe that they were really out for a mission.

She let her thoughts and feelings be heard on Facebook.

In her post, she had a lot of questions to ask these progressive leaders, obviously not believing them in their defense.

She feels that Castro, Ocampo and their group have no respect for the Lumads and their children. In fact, she questions how the minors were allowed in their custody so easily.

Singayao asks that if it was indeed a humanitarian mission and the Lumads needed to be saved, why is it that it was the progressive groups that had to save the children. She also asks why there were no parents of the children or Tribal leaders accompanying the minors.

She also asked if the Department of Education knew about it and if other government personnel knew of it.

She even goes to the extent of accusing the group of using the children for their propaganda and accusing them of even maybe recruiting them into their causes.

"ANONG MISYON?

Saan ninyo sila dadalhin, Satur? May permiso ba ang komunidad , magulang o guardians? Pakita kayo ng signed waiver ng mga parents allowing you to take out their children from the school.

Informed at may DepEd representative ba?
