The administration of President Rodrigo Roa Duterte continues the drive for a graft and corrupt free government, which is the aspiration of the majority if not all Filipinos.

The President made sure no stone is left unturned in trying to clean the government he is leading, he once said even  a “whiff or corruption” is more than enough for him any government official.

When corruption creeps in

Just made known today, Malacanang told media men that President Duterte fired another high ranking member of his cabinet for alleged involvement  in corruption as Housing and Urban Development Coordinating Council Secretary General Falconi Millar.

Mr. Millar also served as the secretary general of Task Force Bangon Marawi. He was appointed by the President to the HUDCC Secretary General post last September, 2017. Millar previously served in the Department of Tourism (DOT) as an undersecretary for oversight function for legislative matters.

During the President’s speaking engagement in the inauguration of the Cavite Gateway Terminal in Tanza, Cavite, he said “Just before I left my office, I signed a dismissal order ‘yung secretary-general ng Housing. A certain Millar. Binasa ko ‘yung resume kanina tinitingnan ko ‘yung termination, I knew what a deep s*** the guy has created.”

“Valedictorian sa law class and everything but I don’t know…Somehow along the way…. corruption creeps in,” the President said.

Duterte acknowledges that power can corrupt good and bright people.

“When you are there… secretary-general, you have the power, you have the authority. You can do corruption and it can corrupt you, give you a little or it corrupts you absolutely,” Duterte added.*

‘No sacred cows’

Presidential spokesperson and concurrent Presidential Legal adviser Attorney Salvador Panelo said the termination of Millar’s services was “effective immediately.”

Panelo reiterates the marching orders of the President that there are “no sacred cows” in the pursuit of cleaning the government of officials involved in graft and corrupt practices under his watch.

“As the President said, he will not tolerate even a whiff of corruption in the Executive Branch of Government,” Spokesman Panelo said.

“The Palace is announcing the termination of services of Housing and Urban Development Coordinating Council (HUDCC) Secretary-General Falconi V. Millar due to allegations of corruption. The President’s order takes effect immediately,” he added.

The Presidential spokesperson also assures the public that there will be no uninterrupted delivery of public service because of Millar’s termination.
