Lawyer thinks all Duterte ‘scandalous acts’ are actually calculated moves

Bruce Rivera, a lawyer and a staunch supporter of President Rodrigo Duterte, is one of the most popular pro-Duterte bloggers. He has spent the past few years defending the president, attempting to explain and rationalize the different actions that the president has been doing.

This time is not that different as Rivera comes up with a possible explanation to the recent moves of the President.

PH-China relations smart move

Rivera says that while other people have been complaining about the closer relations Philippines has with China, and that many Chinese feel like the Philippines has become their extension province, Rivera says that the stronger ties between the two countries is actually a well thought out move from President Duterte.

He said that President Duterte knows that the Donald Trump presidency in the United States was bound to result to a shaky relationship with the Philippines, and also with China.

He says that President Duterte may have predicted that China and the US will not be on good terms and in an effort to steer the Philippines away from that trouble, President Duterte played it safe, not destroying ties with the US, and at the same time, fixing relations with China.

Call to vote for Roxas was for unity

President Duterte said once that people should go ahead and vote for Liberal Party member Manuel “Mar” Roxas.

While most people said Duterte was simply being sarcastic with his statement, Rivera thinks that President Duterte was actually very seriously with his suggestion.

"In short, PRD know, he has really no real allies so he plays with their minds and endorses Roxas. It is not sarcasm, it is just a purely calculated move in order to play with the mind of the "real threats," Rivera said.

He says that this may be a move from the President to show that he does not want the nation divided and that he does not actually have any hatred towards the LP.

Rivera instead says that Duterte has not been attacking the Liberal Party and that the truth is that he only fights back once he is attacked first.

Missing APEC meeting is for good reason

Lastly, Rivera talks about the napping of president Duterte and missing his APEC meeting with other leaders of the Southeast Asian nations in order to nap.

Rivera says that Duterte is too smart and calculating to simply miss these meeting to get rest.

He feels like this is a cover up for a bigger agenda of the President.

He says that there is a good reason for the president missing these meetings and that for sure, it will be for the benefit of the country.

"There is a more compelling reason why he did not attend several events and even contemplated leaving the APEC one day earlier. It is not because of sleep. He can just attend the event, have his picture taken and left quietly. There was a reason for his absence other than just taking a nap," Rivera said.

“HERE IS WHAT I SEE...

Trying to make sense of PRD is a daunting task. No matter how intelligent you claim to be, it is difficult to read him.

FIRST

People who ridiculed him for being too close to China are now biting their lips because they have to admit, his plan is genius. PRD knows that with Trump's America First policy, the US will soon butt heads with China because if the US tightens trade regulations, it will be China who will be affected. He already knew there will be a conflict in the offing. And with the US taking this new stance, PRD knows that Trump will not mind if we also adopt the Philippine First stance and not be totally a US ally but a friend to everyone. Had we been super close with Uncle Sam, we would have been the caught in the middle of the US- China debacle and we cannot afford to take sides especially if we cannot expect the US to take on our cudgels.

SECOND

I am one of the few pro-Duterte supporter who thinks he was not sarcastic when he said that it is okey to vote for Mar Roxas. I think he meant it and it was his way of telling us, let us stop the DiDS-Dilawan division truly polarizing our nation.

You have to remember that if you look at PRD's stance during the early days of his campaign, he was not really divisive. He ran on a campaign agenda which was positive in character. It only turned sour when the LP and others saw his popularity rising and when they started to smear him, his support base retaliated and defended him which led to a very divisive 2016 presidential campaign. If you notice, PRD never started a verbal tirade against Mar, Grace, Binay etc., he will only do so if he is the one attacked. And continued to even after he was elected because both sides continued to be combative and worst, petty.

But I think PRD already knows that the LP is done. He knows they are just noise but they are not really an opponent that can put a chink in his armor. He realized that his enemies are those who managed to wiggle their way into his good graces. He gave so many vital positions to left-leaning individuals but now, he has to virtually remove most of in key government positions. In short, PRD know, he has really no real allies so he plays with their minds and endorses Roxas. It is not sarcasm, it is just a purely calculated move in order to play with the mind of the "real threats".

THIRD

Do you honestly think he missed several APEC events because he took a nap? As simple as that. Are you not a bit curious why he would give the noisy opposition as chance to question his leadership and even his health just because he wanted to sleep. An absence so glaring, it elicited a reaction from APEC leaders themselves.

I am not about to believe PRD will miss these events when he would spend his weekends going to the wake of police and military killed in action. There is a more compelling reason why he did not attend several events and even contemplated leaving the APEC one day earlier. It is not because of sleep. He can just attend the event, have his picture taken and left quietly. There was a reason for his absence other than just taking a nap.

And my guess is that he needed to miss the events. It is that important. And with the opposition crucifying him the same way they crucified him before when he chose to be more receptive to China, I just hope that by now, you should have learned your lesson.

That is: President Duterte does not think as simply as you would think. There is a reason behind it.”
