Muslim customer earns sympathy from netizens on viral video: "Ganito sa Puregold Recto...pag MUSLIM ang bumili bibilangin ng mga 10 times."

A video posted on Facebook by a netizen went viral on Wednesday after he complains an alleged discriminating scene in one of the branch of Puregold.

The video posted by Bamboo Sarip has reached over a million views and also has 27,544 shares, 3,000 comments and 6,200 likes in Facebook.

In the video, the manager of the Puregold branch named Cecille, was seen in the video that the family was complaining and it was all about the system of counting they do in their customer's purchases.

The Scenario

Sarip captioned his post on how Puregold showed discrimination in particular with Muslims when buying grocery items in the said branch of Puregold in Manila. 

“Sinira n’yo ang oras namin, ang mga anak ko nagsisiiyak sa taas, tapos tatlong beses binilang dito (counter)…ng mga tauhan n’yo,”.

“Bakit ba, dahil ba nakakumbong s’ya? Ha? Dahil Muslim kami sasabihin n’yo sampung beses bilangin? Kung may sobra na hindi nabayaran, ‘Ma’am ‘di nabayaran,’ okay babayaran, babayaran namin nang tama.”

“Bad trip ako sa inyo, ta­laga bad trip ako sa Puregold. Kala ko ba Puregold pang-masa, ha? ‘Di porke’t Muslim lahat na. ‘Di ‘wag n’yo naman sayangin ‘yung oras, kung may mga konting aberya sabihin n’yo ‘Ma’m ganito, may kulang, may sumobra,’ eh ‘di tanggalin n’yo, ‘di ‘yung pinapatay n’yo ang oras,”.

Most netizens were anguish to the Chinese-Filipino businessman Lucio Co and to the employees of Puregold who was very rude to their customer Sarip. 


Sympathy from netizens

According to Arnaldo Lapitan: "May mga bwisit talaga dyan sa puregold lalo na yung mga cashiers hindi man lang mangiti pero hindi naman lahat ah yung ibang supervisor pa ngá pala nila hindi marunong ngumiti parang binagsakan ng langit at lupa ang mga pag mumukha at pag may tinanong ka hindi kaagad sumasagot pwera lang sa mga dizer nila."

Cindy Nova: "Wag mamili s pure gold maarte policy jan…yun mga muslim jan nakita nyo video wag na kyo mamili jan."

Jen Tom-Tom Yong: "Iba kc porket muslim bad na tingin nila….hnd naman lahat ng tao eh parepareho…"

Khay Ashley Simpson: "Wla kwenta sa puregold mamili bilangin nla pa ulit ulit matgal n nla sistema yn."


Sympathy to the Puregold staff

Grace Corpuz Visda: "True kuya ginagawa lng nila ang work nila..di nyu po ba alam na dahil jan sa post nyu pwede mawalan ng work c bagger at c kahera."

“Sana ganun po kadali diba..pero naisip nyu po ba ung hirap ng work nila para maging perfect lahat ng gagawin nila magkakamali at magkakamali po talaga cla..wala ping taong perpekto..pero lahat ng tao deserve ng second chance..,” 

Trish Anonuevo: "Recount lang kaya inulit..Hindi cgro nag tally sa resibo yung total items at yung bilang ni bagger..may mga items kase sa puregold na considered wholesale or retail pag na scan na.. Hindi kase pwedeng ma over or under punch si cashier dahil charged yun sakanya o kay bagger..Ginagawa lang nila trabaho nila..lagay din natin sarili natin sa posisyon nila..Isa pa,wala po yan sir sa religion..to be fair..Chinese po ang may ari ng puregold kaya either catholic or Chinese Buddhist sila.. At kung palagay niyo po,bad experience ang pag grocery sa branch na yan..pwede naman po kayo makahanap ng branch o other grocery store na magiging komportable kayo..mali din po ang mag video nalang basta without those personnel’s permission..-just sayin"

As of writing, there is no official statement yet from Puregold regarding the said viral video from the netizen who had experienced alleged discrimination.
