The indigenous people of Mindanao, otherwise known as Lumads have long been victims of struggle from different fronts. From the mining firms who try to invade their peace in their own lands, to the paramilitary groups who brutally executed their tribe leaders.

Now, it seems like the CPP-NPA are using the schools as “breeding grounds” to mold Lumad youths into subversive renegades.

Leftist Version Of The National Anthem

In a report posted by GMA News on Facebook, the Armed Forces of the Philippines presented a group of Lumad youth who were taught a different kind of education in their schools. Aside from the usual subjects being taught, they were also fed leftist ideologies such as the different version of “Lupang Hinirang”.

The lyrics of the national anthem were clearly changed, and was turned into a subversive version that seem to encourage revolt and support for communism. These volunteer-run schools in remote Mindanao were obviously being used as breeding grounds by the CPP-NPA. They are indoctrinating the youth into socialism.

Other Stories

According to other Lumad youths, aside from socialist teachings that were given to them, they were also asked to visit NPA camps together with their teachers. In the camp, they were required to watch revolutionary videos, videos that sow hatred over the government, aimed to poison and influence the youth’s minds.

They were also taught on how to handle firearms, and how to attack police detachments. Even during school hours, they were ordered to attend rallies involving Bayan Muna in neighboring cities in revolt of the government.

They Need Help

Now more than ever, the Lumad needs help. They are being exploited and driven away from their ancestral lands. They are in danger of losing their culture and tradition. They are facing a war of extinction.
