Senator Francis “Chiz” Escudero revealed in a hearing of the joint congressional oversight committee that many of the back-up storage devices that were used in the elections last 2016 were not an exact copy of the original storage devices.

He confidently stated that he could prove this claim by presenting a witness, whose identity would be that of a former elections official, to court during the next hearing date.

During an interview after the hearing, Escudero brought up questions for the Comelec to keep in mind till the hearing date, he asked

“…ilan sa back up drive ang pinadala? At nasaan ‘yung record ng back up drive? Apparently walang ganung record ang Comelec kaya hiniling namin na maibigay sa committee para makumpara at mapag-aralan ng husto…”

The senator also stated that he was given photocopies of the authentic documents by the witness, late last year, which may prove the inconsistencies of the data of the back -up storage devices and the main storage devices.

The legislator explains the issue by using the carbon copy analogy where he stated that,

“Dahil kung hindi sya accurate picture or carbon copy ng main drive, eh ‘di magi-iba ang resulta to a certain degree. To what extent? Hindi  ko alam at kung hanggang saan ‘di pa rin namin masabi sa ngayon.”

Despite being a basic technical issue, the Escudero still presses on the fact that both the back-up and the main storage devices should have the exact same data and that such issues may raises questions on by what margin would these consistencies come to.
