President Rodrigo Roa Duterte’s announcement of backing out of the International Criminal Court (ICC) has reached the headlines once again and with such popularity of such and intriguing character, controversy sparks.

Criticism is incredibly common nowadays, we are all given the opportunity to voice out our thoughts or opinions but when you are seated of high power, you must contain your opinions into statements that cannot be used against you, for the media has a tendency to do so, to manipulate your statements that will spark controversy to and individual that shouldn’t.

This is what an alumnus of the Philippine Military Academy (PMA), Dan Jimenez, had to say in his Facebook post when Vice President Leni Robredo mouthed out her thoughts without thinking about it.

Jimenez repeated Robredo’s statement on the matter of Duterte’s decision to back out of the ICC,

"Delikado ito sa future generations. Kasi, papa'no kung naging mapang-abuso 'yung nakaupo. Wala na tayong malalapitan."

First of all, Robredo doubted the actions of the president and outright accused Duterte of the possibly of being a tyrannical and abusive leader. Second, clearly based on Robredo’s statement, the Philippines own VP lacks faith in her people.

Jimenez finds this intriguing, he asks if Robredo is a waste of Filipino patriots and heroes’ blood. A statement that exhibits mendicancy to foreign colonizers, direct discrimination to the Filipinos for being such imbeciles and the lack there of faith in the power of the Filipino people. So what if Duterte becomes tyrannical, has history not taught her that in a Democratic country, it is the people that have the power, thus we have events like the EDSA people power revolution that happened twice against two different presidents.

Which is funny since Robredo claims to be a part of the people power, a revolution that exhibited the bravery and resilience of the Filipino people against those who suppress people, a revolution that fought for freedom.

Jimenez ended his post with a possible truth,

“…she may just be presenting her true self and convictions. And she will take over the presidency just in case?”

You can refer to Dan Jimenez’ full Facebook post below:

“On Duterte's decision to bolt out of the ICC, VP(?) Robredo has this to say: "Delikado ito sa future generations. Kasi, papa'no kung naging mapang-abuso 'yung nakaupo. Wala na tayong malalapitan,".

Now, is that not a statement of utter dependence on foreign powers regarding justice resolution in the Philippines? Isn't that statement smacks of mendicancy and spineless attitude? Did the Filipino patriots and heroes die so that Robredo could proclaim to the whole world that Filipinos are inutile if not imbecile people? Really? The Filipinos have no alternative but cry "uncle" if a despot rises in the Philippines and abuses each Filipino man, woman and child? What respect will the rest of the world render the Philippines when such acceptance of incapability and lack of will and willingness to fight for freedom and justice are clearly manifested by the country's vice-president?

For one who claims that she was part of EDSA that supposedly claim Filipinos' freedom, for one who claims courage and resilience against those who will abuse her people, such brainless statement is inconceivable.

But then, she may just be presenting her true self and convictions. And she will take over the presidency just in case? HFS!”
