Bam Aquino slams Mocha: How dare you compare Ninoy’s final moments to Duterte’s kissing gimmickry

Senator Bam Aquino defended his cousin Queen of all media Kris Aquino against Presidential Communications Assistant Secretary Mocha Uson over kissing controversy of President Rodrigo Duterte and a Filipino in South Korea.

Aquino said that her cousin should stand up to stop Mocha’s attempt to malign the memory of the late Senator Ninoy Aquino.

Clearly there’s a move to change history and malign legacy of Tito (the late Sen. Benigno) Ninoy (Aquino Jr.) and Tita (former Pres. Corazon) Cory (Aquino) and hindi siya tama, and it shows a lack of context, a lack of appreciation of our history, a lack of appreciation for the people who have died for our country,” Aquino said.

I’m totally with #LabanKris. Ate Kris, kung kailangan pa niyang lumaban pa diyan kay Mocha labanan niya yan, i-correct niya iyan, and I think people are starting to realize and recognize ang mga estratehiya at estilo ng mga mastermind ni Asec. Mocha Uson. It may have worked in the past but it’s not working anymore,” Aquino added.

Uson earned the ire of Kris Aquino when the former uploaded a video in defense of President Rodrigo Duterte’s controversial kiss to a female overseas Filipino worker.

The old video showed the late senator being kissed by two women before he disembarked from his plane at the Manila International Airport on August 21, 1983.

The senator said that the video of Duterte and Ninoy was clearly different and it is not right to compare them because the kissing controversy of Duterte was all gimmick.

Unang-una napakalayo naman ng mga pangyayaring iyan. These are the last moments of his (Ninoy) life. In fact if you look at that clip, there is one shot there, pagtayo niya I think he starts to recognize that he might be shot. So this is a clip of somebody who is about to die for the country,” the senator said.

Hindi naman yata tama na ikukumpara mo iyan sa mga tinatawag na gimmick at sa isang bagay na kinasukalaman ng napakaraming mga tao. This is a person’s last two minutes of his life, how can you compare that to a so-called gimmick na pampatawa lang sa mga tao na of course marami ring umalma,” he added.

Meanwhile, Uson declined to apologize about the feud despite an order from Duterte to apologize so the issue is not blown out of proportion any longer.

Ito po ang aking response sa live video ni Ms Kris Aquino. This is not about Kris Aquino," Uson said in a video posted on her Facebook page on Wednesday afternoon.

"Tungkol ito sa paglagay ng malisya sa isang halik. Itinumbas lang sa gawain ng ibang lider tulad ng tatay niya. Ms Aquino, this is not about you," said Uson.

Duterte said Uson invoked the “sacred right” to free speech, which is why he respects her decision not to issue an apology.

As I respect the opposition, I must also respect the people in my camp,” Duterte said.

Once mag-invoke ka ng ganoon, wala akong magawa kasi ako mismo sinasabi ko, ’It’s your right to criticize me.’”
