Pastor says Church can be used as a tool to destabilize Duterte administration

Pastor Boy Saycon recently let out the idea that there are some radical members of the Church that may aim to destabilize the Duterte administration.

After the controversy of President Rodrigo Duterte calling God “stupid” was let out into the public, he immediately created a team to have a dialogue with religious groups in the Philippines. One of the members is Saycon, along with Presidential spokesperson Harry Roque and Foreign Affairs Undersecretary Ernesto Abella.

Mayroong mga member din naman ng simbahan na radikal ang pag-iisip pero in general, ‘yun namang leadership ng simbahan ay hindi naman nakikialam,” Sayco said in regards to the issue.

He added that the threats towards Duterte are not directly coming from the Church but rather, from organizations that are allegedly connected to foreign groups with “foreign interests”.

He said that this may be rooted from Duterte’s dislike of America and his dislike to get into negotiations with Americans.

Saycon also said that the dialogues currently happening are improving relations between the two parties, as the president allegedly does not want to have another Edsa uprising.

We have to come with clean hands, clean hearts, to listen and ask the Church on how we can foster this good relationship between the government and the Church,” he said.

Things went into a very bad situation that caused the removal of Erap from his office so ayaw natin mangyari ang ganoong klaseng pangyayari [we do not want that to happen],” he added.

However, Sayco said that these are only preventive measures, as he says that another Edsa happening is still very far off.
