Anti-Duterte tells Sara Duterte: Don’t tell us what to do, tell your father what to do

Presidential daughter and Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio posted on her Instagram account saying that people should not listen to her father, President Rodrigo Duterte’s interpretation of any religious books like the Bible and Quran.

Sara Duterte said this after her father was attacked with harsh criticisms for his comments on the Bible. Sara said that her father is not a priest therefore, he should just not be taken seriously.

Please do not listen to him interpret the Bible or Quran. He is not a priest, a pastor or an imam. He is the President. Listen only when he speaks about his work,” Sara said.

"Do not waste your negative energy on his interpretation of the Bible, that is his opinion. He is protected by the Constitutional right to freedom of speech and expression even if he is the President," she added.

Meanwhile, artist and anti-Duterte, Jhay de Jesus posted through Facebook a response to Sara’s statement, clearly saying that while the president is allowed his own view points and opinions, he must be held to a higher standard in terms of what he chooses to say to the public.

In his post, de Jesus says that being the highest official of the land, he influences everyone who hears him, therefore he should just act accordingly.

He adds in a different post, how Sara’s defense of her father is “rape victim blaming logic”. He says that Sara should learn to not tell the public how to react, the same as you don’t lecture a woman to defend herself. Instead, what must be taught is men not to rape, same as Duterte should be taught how to act more professionally.

“Rape victim blaming logic. Do not teach women how to defend themselves, teach men not to rape. So do not tell us what or how to react, teach your dad to act professional, no, teach this whole government to conduct themselves accordingly and properly especially if they're on official busines which is everyday,” De Jesus said.

Duterte must be subjected to a higher standard, says de Jesus. Especially that he is on official business everyday.

"Dear Sara Duterte,

Please instead of telling us how to or not to react, bat di yung tatay mo ang turuan mo na umasal ng naaayon sa posisyong pinangarap niya. Umasal bilang presidente. Umasal bilang public official.
