President Rodrigo Duterte says will be comfortably step down from the office as the top leader of the country if the likes of either former Senator Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. or Senator Francis “Chiz” Escudero would be his successor and definitely not Vice President Leni Robredo.

“I think deep in my heart, if you follow the succession and Robredo takes over, hindi niya kaya,”

"Hindi niya kaya, that’s my honest opinion ko lang. Kung na sino lang sana diyan, in the likes of Escudero or Bongbong Marcos,” Duterte said in a speech during a dinner with members of the Kapisanan ng mga Broadkaster sa Pilipinas (KBP) in Malacañang.

“Ako po ay sawa na. What is inside me is not really anger kasi wala ka talagang magawa eh. It’s the frustration that I cannot comply with my promise number one– corruption,” he added.

Duterte recently declared he was ready to step down and leave the presidency should the military and police "find" the right successor and took another swipe against Robredo saying saying she does not possess the qualities to succeed him in office.

“The problem is, I cannot suggest to them that you follow the succession which is really the Constitution, but if they do it, I said go ahead. I’m hesitant to suggest a constitutional succession." President said in a speech

"I have nothing against Robredo. She’s a lawyer. You’ve heard her talk but I don’t think she can improve on anything here. Of course, she will deny it."

"You can ask the hotbed of shabu in the past years. I would not mention the name. It was Naga City” he added.

Robredo is from Naga City where her husband, the late former Interior and Local Government Secretary Jesse Robredo, served as mayor for nearly two decades.

Duterte also said in his speech that he was considering of stepping down from his post, explaining that he was tired of the endless corruption in the government.

“I told the soldiers and policemen, ‘Guys, I want you to know that I’m thinking of stepping down because I’m tired, well I’m not angry against anybody,’”

“My chase against graft and corruption seems to be endless and it has contaminated almost all government departments and offices.”

Duterte previously said that Robredo's incompetence would never be fit of becoming the next President.
