After a post with a photo of peppers from SM Supermarket spread like a wild fire on social media, the concerned grocery store was quick enough to refute the information reflected on the said post.

Allegedly, it was the media giant ABS-CBN who disseminated such which heavily drew reactions from the netizens.

The information disputed by SM was the pepper's price seen on the photo. According to the Henry Sy-owned supermarket's statement, it turns that the photo with the expensively-priced peppers were 'not accurate' thus rendering the post 'erroneous'.

As the country is facing a dilemma with our current economic status where inflation rate is at an all-time high but certainly not the highest in the history, one can't help but wonder if the occurrence of things like this (such as misleading information) is indeed another honest mistake or a politically-motivated stunt.

In the middle of the inflation agitation, media — giant news networks to be exact — plays a big role in helping the government allay panic of the Filipino consumers. This is why some believe that though it was already made clear that the photo that caused confusion to the public, it's plain to see that it is not just one of their slips.

That is why there are netizens who rage amid the surface of posts like this. One of them is the prominent social media personality, influential Duterte supporter, New York University alumnus, and a writer at the Manila Bulletin, Krizette Chu.

In her Facebook post, she lambasted ABS-CBN for what she labelled as 'economic fearmongering' which, for her, is 'so unpatriotic'.

The latter also compared how mainstream media alike makes a fuss out of non-sense issues versus the ones that are of big significance, taking PCOO's Assistant Secretary Mocha Uson's Mayon Volcano blunder against the fake news that circulated recently involving Nestle.

'ABS shrugged it off like its nothing when Nestle is an advertiser, but these people will make a big deal when Mocha makes a mistake re location of Mayon volcano, when the Mayon volcano mistake will not make investors pull out', Chu said.

For her, this is being done by some people for the sake of causing panic to their fellow countrymen hence, spark outrage against the hardworking 73-year-old President.

'Para lang mag reklamo ang tao kay Duterte, some people would rather scare away investors and panic the people', she wrote.

In addition, the same mentioned that instead of helping each other, some gets a feeling of schadenfreude when something goes wrong.

'Imbes magtulungan, you're happy pa when something goes wrong', the pro-Duterte netizen said, adding 'And when nothing is wrong, you'd make up things'.

In her post's conclusion, the staunch supporter of the Mindanaoan President tells the likes of the people she mentioned earlier about how she wishes karma to hit back at them.

'Makarma sana kayo. Ma bankrupt sana kayo na kayo lang ang affected habang sumagana ang ibang Pilipino', Chu wrote.

She also sends a message to the people who or takes pleasure whenever problems take place as well those who make up stories: You will reap your karma in due time.

Good morning sa mga kumakain ng sili dyan nang isang kilo per day kaya kung makapag fear monger sa presyo ay wagas.

This economic fearmongering--including the fake news that Nestle is leaving the country, and from ABS CBN, a trusted mainstream media source--is so unpatriotic. And ABS shrugged it off like its nothing when Nestle is an advertiser, but these people will make a big deal when Mocha makes a mistake re location of Mayon volcano, when the Mayon volcano mistake will not make investors pull out.

Para lang mag reklamo ang tao kay Duterte, some people would rather scare away investors and panic the people. Imbes magtulungan, you're happy pa when something goes wrong. And when nothing is wrong, you'd make up things.

Makarma sana kayo. Ma bankrupt sana kayo na kayo lang ang affected habang sumagana ang ibang Pilipino.

Lahat ng nagbubunyi pag may problema, at lahat ng gumagawa ng istorya, you will reap your karma in due time.
