Two years after the election of President Rodrigo Duterte, the fight between the Duterte supporters (DDS) and the Dilawans or Liberal Party supporters has not waned.

In fact, the rivalry between the two groups have become even more intense in social media with both camps throwing shade and insults against each other.

Recently, there is a post from the Duterte supporter camp that has been making rounds online. Although the complaint is similar to what has already been said in the past, the intensity of the message attracted many people online.

Politics over national development

De La Salle University professor Van Ybiernas very eagerly shared his thoughts about the yellow supporters and what he feels they have done for the country.

The first thing that he said is that he feels like the yellows always put themselves first before the country.

He accuses them of not thinking about anything else, only opposing the Duterte administration.

Explicity, Ybiernas said that whatever the policies set forth by Duterte, his administration or his supporters, whether they be good or bad for the country is irrelevant, they will still oppose it.

Duterte continued PNoy’s projects

There are some criticisms that anti-Duterte people have set forth, one of which is that Duterte is only finishing what Aquino already started. But Ybiernas sees this as something positive, accusing former President Benigno “Noynoy” Aquino of being lazy which is why he has not finished his projects.

He then says that Duterte has continuity, allowing these projects to be completed for the better of the country.

Same strategy was used with Marcos

Ybiernas adds that the same strategy was employed to oust and discredit former President Ferdinand Marcos.

He says that they do not weigh the benefits and disadvantages but only opposes for the sake of opposing.

At kapag tapos na kumontra, kokontra ulit!” he said.
