A SIGHT TO SEE - A proud Undersecretary of the Presidential Communications Operations Office (PCOO) Lorraine Marie T. Badoy glorifies President Rodrigo Duterte as seen in photo shared on Facebook, after the awarding of 500 Housing Units to the personnel of the First Scout Ranger Regiment (1st SRR) at the Scout Ranger Ville in San Miguel, Bulacan that occurred, Monday, December 10, 2018.

The President, in the photo, can be seen being swarmed by his supporters, even approached by one the Scout Rangers’ daughter as she breaches Presidential Security Group (PSG) protocols only to give the President a warm embrace.

The “Scout Ranger Ville” Housing Project is a 50 – hectare land area located in Barangay Calumpang, San Miguel, Bulacan near Camp Tecson, home of the First Scout Ranger Regiment of the Philippine Army.

‘Living Up’ To The Promise

In a message to the beneficiaries after the ceremonial turnover of the housing units, the President said, “Owning a house has always been a dream of every Filipino. I urge every beneficiary of this housing program to take good care of these units. May this project further inspire you to serve your nation, deepen your patriotism and foster your sense of family and community.”

“Be assured of my support as we advance the common good and promote genuine and lasting peace for our motherland,” he added.

During the turnover ceremony, the President even made a surprise to the beneficiaries with another P100,000 price slash from the unit’s original price. As a result, the beneficiaries will only have to pay a low monthly amortization of P4,000 for a fully-furnished two-bedroom unit.

“Ngayon kasi nakikinig kayo dito, and very behave kayo [Now because you are listening and you are behave], less 100. So 844. So it’s about 4,000 monthly,” the President said, while drawing applause from the crowd.

National Housing Authority General Manager Marcelino Escalada Jr. also announced that the remaining 500 housing units being built in San Miguel, Bulacan is expected to be completed by May next year.

What made it exceptional from other housing units is that aside from amenities like clubhouse and wet market, Escalada said the Scout Ranger Ville Housing project will have an Olympic-size swimming pool where AFP swimmers can train.

The housing project will also include a 3 – story housing unit and a 15 – classroom school building.

Meanwhile, Lorraine, in her Facebook post, said that:

“This was early this week in San Miguel, Bulacan.

One of the children of a Scout Ranger embraces the President. And the President embraces back. Both of them, real happy.

The President had just awarded 500 homes to the 1st Scout Ranger Regimen and I saw these affordable homes (at 4k a month) and they are BEAUTIFUL. Homes fit for faithful public servants who give their all to country.

Homes that will shelter and protect them while the man of the house is away. Homes they can pass on to their children.

Just one of the housing projects of the new AFP-PNP Housing Program of the National Housing Authority under the Duterte administration.

Our President said, "Owning a house has always been a dream of every Filipino. I urge every beneficiary of this housing program to take good care of these units."

"May this project further inspire you to serve your nation, deepen your patriotism and foster your sense of family and community."

They've been serving country for decades now out of their impeccable sense of duty- even as past presidents treated them shabbily, with hardly a thought for the huge sacrifices they and their families make.

I am glad this President treats them with the respect and dignity befitting our heroes.

A grateful nation salutes you, Sirs and your families.

Naway masaya at mapayapa ang unang Pasko nyo sa mga bagong tahanan ninyo.”
