Manila, Philippines - Vice President Leni Robredo on Sunday called out presidential son and former Davao City vice mayor Paolo “Pulong” Duterte for allegedly spreading “fake news” on her alleged involvement in the ouster plot against President Rodrigo Duterte.

Last Friday, the eldest Duterte son posted a controversial screen-capped image of excel sheets containing names of allegedly names and organizations conniving to oust the president.

On the list

Society groups mentioned are Tindig Pilipinas, Movement Against Tyranny, and the Makabayan Bloc.

There were names of bishops under the CBCP, while in the business sector, Jollibee Food Corp, DOLE Phils, and PLDT take the spot.

Jejomar Binay, Jim Paredes, Norberto Gonzales, Acting Chief Justice Antonio Carpio, and Francisco Kit Tatad also belong to the list aside from Maria Ressa and Rappler, Ellen Tordesillas, and Ed Lingao of the media side.

Robredo, is listed too under the United Opposition.

Baseless accusations

With this, the vice president said that it was “irresponsible” for Duterte’s eldest son to post such on social media.

“Napakairesponsable na magpost ng isang bagay na, una, wala namang basehan. Pangalawa, hindi ko alam kung alam niya kung saan iyon nanggaling,( It was very irresponsible to post something which has no basis in the first place. Second, I don’t know if he knows where it came from.)” Robredo said on her Sunday radio program

“Obviously, ‘yung gumawa nun hindi nag-aksaya ng panahon para magreasearch. Sana nalaman niya na hindi naman ako pumupunta sa mga lugar na iyon. At yung mga nakalista hindi ko naman mga kakilala, (Robredo continued. (Obviously, the person who made the list did not even do some research. I hope he knows that I don’t go to those places. And I don’t know the people on the list.)” she said*

The list that Pulong bared reportedly includes names of restaurants and hotels where they allegedly met.

Public servants should tell the truth

Robredo laughed off the accusations against her, calling it“fake news”.

“Ang kilala ko lang dun si Jollibee (I only know Jollibee),” she said in a joke.

“Baka ang sadya niya din patawanin tayo. Dahil Christmas, pasayahin tayong lahat (Maybe his intention was to make us laugh. Because it’s Christmas, he wants to make us happy,” Robredo added.

Further, the vice president added that as a former vice mayor who is also planning to return to public service, Pulong Duterte should tell the truth.

“Kahit nakakatawa para sa atin, nakalungkot pa din dahil ‘yung mga public officials mas mataas ‘yung responsibilidad magpahayag ng katotohanan, (Even though it’s laughable for us, it’s saddening because public officials have a greater responsibility to tell the truth.)” she said
