The crowned Miss Universe 2018 parents can't hide their emotions when host Steve Harvey announced the winner in the coronation on Monday at Bangkok, Thailand.

Catriona Gray was crowned as Philippines' fourth beauty queen to be crowned as Miss Universe after Pia Wurtzbach (2015), Gloria Diaz (1969) and Margarita Moran (1973).

The priceless reaction of Catriona's parents was shared by a netizen who was sitting beside them which was posted on Twitter.

"I sat next to Catriona Gray’s parents, and this was their reaction when their daughter, Miss Philippines, won Miss Universe," Twitter user @MikeinCambodia said.

Standing ovation and tears of joy

In the video, Catriona's father was silent with no reaction before Steve Harvey announced Catriona as Miss Universe then once announced Catriona's father stood up while her mother was seen crying happily and comforted by Filipino audiences sitting beside her.

During the post-pageant press conference, Catriona said that there is a significance on the red dress that she is wearing. It was a lava inspired dress symbolizing the Mount Mayon where her mother was from. Catriona said that her mother dreamt that she will be Miss Universe when she was 13.

“When I was 13, my mother told me, ‘I had a dream and you were in the Miss Universe and you won in a red dress’,” Cat narrated.

"So when I saw her earlier, she said, ‘I dreamed this.’ And there were tears in her eyes. "

Catriona has always quoted her father's advice to her.

"I can always hear my dad's voice, whenever he gives me advice it's always stuck in my head. He always tells me 'the longest journey starts with a single step' and it sounds very simple, but sometimes when we're reaching for a dream or we have an ambition, it seems so far away and we can feel overwhelmed but when we look at it as one small step at a time, one day you'll look up from your feet that you're already there," Catriona told the press during her send-off last November.

MalacaƱang Palace, lawmakers, celebrities and even Miss Universe 2015 Pia Wurtzbach have already sent their congratulations for Catriona.
