AkoSiDogie To Pay P750k For Leaking One Piece Cinema Clip, Is This The End Of Anime In The PH?

AkoSiDogie, a streamer known for his shot to fame when he started earning from his videos is now facing a possible lawsuit from Toei Animation and SM Cinema. If this happens, Dogie, the most viewed streamer in the Philippines might have to pay P750,000 and get imprisoned for up to 6 years.

Flawed defense

In his defense, Dogie, insisted that the One Piece Movie clip he released on his video was a scene that was also part of the trailer. Somehow insinuating that the public already saw the clip from the trailer, so it didn't hurt that he showed it on his video again.

He added that he only did it to show love for the anime community. In fact, according to him, it's free promotion for them.

Impending Ban

However, Japan is strict when it comes to privacy. A similar incident happened last 2017 in Malaysia and Singapore during the showing of the movie Sword Art Online. I resulted to the Japan Animation industry to be a lot stricter when it comes to showing films in South East Asia.

Because of this incident, there is a possibility that anime films will totally get banned in the Philippines.

Hype

One Piece: Stampede is the 14th feature length film in the series and is released this year for the celebration of the 20th year of the anime series. In all those 20 years, Filipinos embraced the series and the anime community is surely hyped when it was announced that it will be shown by SM Cinema.

Warning

As a warning regarding the defense of AkoSiDogie, "Ignorance of the law excuses no one". The Philippines have been fighting piracy for years already, and it is common knowledge that piracy is a crime, and the taking photos or videos inside cinemas are against the law.

You will see this reminder in every start of any movies you see in malls.
