For the longest time, you will hear people screaming and demanding for a change. It does not matter who our president is, people will always shout for a change, and when they don't get it, they will target the president and say that he or she isn't fit for office.

However, isn't it unfair to give all that responsibility to the president? Because if we want change, then it should start with us.

Disheartening

The morning after Christmas, the street sweepers assigned to Rizal Park have our heartfelt sympathy for having to clean up the mess that the people who celebrated Christmas there the night before left.

It is disheartening to see this much garbage. It's sad that people did not even bother to clean up after themselves and decided to just leave the place messy.

No discipline

It's very saddening when you realize that a majority of these people who has no discipline and just left their garbage sitting there are the very same people shouting for a change.

When will they ever realize that if they want change, they should be starting with themselves? Surely, they can't expect the president to pick up all their messes after they had fun. They must realize that in order for the country to progress, the people in it should also be one with the goal to do it.

This means extra effort in keeping everything clean. Extra effort in taking care of the environment, and extra effort in doing your part as a community member.

If you want change but are not willing to do anything about it. If you are expecting to be handed a silver platter, then maybe, just maybe, you have to change your mindset.

The change that people are asking for has to start somewhere. And there is no question about it that it should start with us. With the little things that some neglect to do.

So, starting this 2019, may we start with ourselves, so we can expect change.
