Oh Wow! Manila Architects on Modernizing the Lagusnilad Underpass!

The United Architects of the Philippines-Manila Corinthian chapter has proposed designs for a modern Lagusnilad underpass, which is located right in front of the Manila City hall, to allegedly feature the legacy and culture of the country's capital city.

This group of architects calls this project 'Modern Underpass to Manila’s Heritage', suggest the said Manila urban link underpass, which intends to highlight the heritage and culture of the city, apparent in the use of intricate grille works, glass-covered walkways, arches, and small, underground shops.

According to this chapter of architects, the proposed underpass will attempt to mirror the bearing of the new leadership in the rebirth of Manila, that as per them truly deserves world-class facility.

"The proposed underpass seeks to reflect the direction of the new leadership in the revitalization of a city that deserves a world-class facility for a humble but vital service of the pedestrian passage connecting “the different key destinations in the heart of the city.", they said.

Likewise, the architects pronounced that majority of the prominent cities are now grasping the global standards, reason why they aim to do it in Manila too.




“Most of the leading cities worldwide are embracing internationalization and global standards, opening to new methods and technologies while maintaining to push their local identity,” the chapter added.

This proposed modern Lagusnilad underpass will also feature wall paintings and small shops, and will likewise embody modern equipment such as escalators for PWD considerations and other environmental and sustainable features.

The said project will be a collaboration with the City of Manila via the City Planning and Development Office (CPDO), and consultation agencies APTCS Group and Fjord Designs through the United Architects of the Philippines.
