Angel Locsin, Tinawag na 'Obese Person' sa Isang Learning Module. DepEd Humingi ng Paumanhin

Isang guro mula sa Abra de Ilog National High School, Occidental Mindoro, diumano ang nakatangap ng napakaraming batikos mula sa mga netizens, matapos mag-viral sa social media ang ginawa nitong learning module para sa subject na Physical Education, kung saan ginamit raw nito ang pangalan ng sikat na aktres na si Angel Locsin.

Ang guro ay kinilalang si Keith Richard Firme, na ngayon nga daw ay deactivated na ang Facebook account dahil sa dami ng tinanggap na 'galit' nito mula sa mga netizens, lalong-lalo na sa mga fans at supporters ni Locsin.

Daing ng mga fans, maliwanag raw na ang ginawa ng guro ay isang uri ng body shaming at hindi dapat ginagamit sa pagtuturo.

Ito ay matapos lumabas ang kopya ng isang part ng module ni Firme, na siya mismo ang may akda, kung saan tinawag na 'obese person' ang aktres.

Ang naturang module ay para diumano sa Schools Division of Occidental Mindoro na inihanda ni Firme kung saan makikita sa dulo ang kanyang pangalan at pirma.

Mababasa sa nasabing module ang mga sumusunod:

“SITUATION. Angel Locsin is an obese person.

“She, together with Coco Martin, eats fatty and sweet food in MANG INASAL fast food restaurant most of the time.

“In her house, she always watching television and does not have any physical activities.

“QUESTIONS: (5 pts each)

“1. What do you think will happen to Angel if she continues her lifestyle?

“2. How do lifestyle affects the health of an individual?”

Samantala, nakarating na diumano sa Department of Education ang naturang balita at agad naman silang humingi ng paumanhin sa aktres at sa 'concerned individuals na naapektuhan ng insidente. Sinabi din nila na hindi kailanman sila magiging pabor sa 'body shaming' or 'any act of bullying', maging sa physical or virtual na pamamaraan ng pagtuturo.

"Upon initial investigation, this office found out that the said material is not contained in the self-learning module (SLM) developed and quality assured by the DepEd Central Office. The said material is a teacher-made assessment for a Grade 10 MAPEH class purposely to measure specific competencies of the learning area.

"We would like to express our sincerest apology to the concerned individuals which may have been offended or harmed by this incident. The Department of Education does not tolerate nor condone any act of body shaming, ad hominem, or any similar act of bullying both in the physical and virtual environments.

The schools division said they communicated with the male teacher concerned. They affirmed their commitment to "provide quality education to all learners.", pahayag ng DepEd-Occidental Mindoro.

Paliwanag din ng DepEd na mayroon namang nakalaan na magsasagawa ng Quality Assurance (QA) para sa lahat ng learning modules. Ngunit ng magsimula ang new normal education sa pamamagitan ng remote learning system noong Oktubre 5 ay hindi pa ito nakukumpleto. Kaya kanilang inatasan at ipinagkatiwala sa mga paaralan ang mismong paggawa ng assessment para sa learning modules at iba pang materyales.
