LGBT Ally Anne Curtis Comes Out And Reminds People Of What The Gay Community Is Seeking

The SOGIE Bill, or the bill that is going to give the members of the LGBTQIA+ community the same or at least equal rights as men and women is a hot topic now. With its passing on the way, more and more people and celebrities are coming out in support of the said bill. The latest one is Ann Curtis.

Supporter for years

In her Facebook page, actress-host Ann Curtis showed her support for the SOGIE bill by posting a photo of her in rainbow clothes and background signalling her support for the gay community which she said she has been vocal of for years already.

According to her she is an ally, and that she has friends and family who are members of the community that it breaks her heart that a lot of people are against the bill being passed.

Human beings

Anne also added why she is saddened by the people who are against the passing of the bill. She says that it shouldn't actually be about what rights women and men have, "in fact, it all boils down to equal rights as HUMAN BEINGS."

She blames discrimination as to why such a bill has to be made. It is also because people lack understanding and respect she added. The discrimination has become severe that they need a bill like this just so they can protect their rights as human beings.

"but sadly because of discrimination, a bill like this has to be made.... because, instead of kindness, compassion, respect and UNDERSTANDING it has come to a point where they need this bill to protect their rights as human beings."

Equality

In the last part, she reminds the readers that the members of the LGBTQIA+ are only seeking for equality. They are not seeking to have more rights than men and women. After all, it's not as if the rights of men and women are going to be lessened if they get theirs. They just want equality. And as Anne put it, "Equality, just like all of us."

Here's her full post on Facebook:

With the SOGIE Bill hearing recently happening and with such a heated discussion ongoing about it being passed. I just want to share my thoughts. I am an ally of the LGBTQIA+ Community and have been open about that for years. I have friends and family who are part of this community and whom I love very much. It breaks my heart and saddens me that people are so against the passing of the bill when in fact, it all boils down to equal rights as HUMAN BEINGS... but sadly because of discrimination, a bill like this has to be made.... because, instead of kindness, compassion, respect and UNDERSTANDING it has come to a point where they need this bill to protect their rights as human beings. Equality is all they seek for. Equality regardless of what gender they identify as or how they choose to express themselves and equality as human beings and citizens of this country... just like all of US.

I still stand by these words I said for this cover in 2016...
“We are all the same. We are all human beings who deserve a chance and equal opportunities in life. May it be for work, life or love we should be given equal rights”.
