Talakbo Modus: A Warning To Drivers

The Philippine National Police has identified a lot of budol scams that we all should be wary of.  We may have heard some of them such as the Zesto gang, dura gang, salisi gang, budol gang, and the most common which is ATM scam. The newest modus in the country today is called “Talakbo modus.”

Talakbo modus

As shared by the police, Talakbo is “taho, lako, budol.” A certain taho vendor identified from Tondo, Manila was doing his modus by faking a car incident. CCTV footages reveal how the vendor simply peddles taho and by the time he spotted his potential victim, he will get close to the victim’s car as if he was being hit. Right there and then, he will act as if he was really hit and cry out of pain. To settle things the easiest way, he’ll ask for money from the victim so as not to involve police and hospital admission.

Cheap act

According to Chief Inspector Bryan Gregorio of Public Information,

After accepting money from the victim, the taho vendor simply walks away as if nothing unusual happened.

Other cases

On the other hand, a man in Cavite was caught on CCTV doing the same modus. He acts as if he was hit and asks payment for the damage. Another incident happened when nurses from a particular hospital identified the man and his modus as he keeps coming back on the same hospital due to alleged vehicular hit.

A warning to scamsters

PNP warns the scamsters to stop their modus and live a decent life. Nobody knows but their tricks to innocent drivers may happen for real.
